Research at Cerema is strongly linked to its other activities, and helps to connect the organisation with the state-of-the-art, particularly by strengthening its role as a “knowledge broker”, mediating between research and the regions of France.

Research at Cerema enables it to back up public policies with a role as mediator to not only enrich expertise through new scientific and technical knowledge at the highest level of the state-of-the-art but also to facilitate the conversion of needs observed in the field so that they become new subjects of research.

Almost 500 personnel mobilised to varying degrees. At Cerema, people working actively in research also participate in other types of projects: expert appraisal, studies, standardisation.
