Cerema, which stands for Centre for Studies and Expertise on Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Urban Planning, is the French major public Agency for developing and capitalising on public expertise in the fields of planning, regional cohesion, and ecological and energy transition. Worldwide, it is a partner of choice for both Public Institutions and Private Entities.
As a multidisciplinary scientific and technical resource and expertise centre, with a strong focus research and innovation activities, Cerema provides assistance in developing, implementing and assessing public policies at national and local levels, where the challenges of the ecological transition & regional cohesion are paramount.
It offers a unique state-of-the-art high-level expertise in the areas of mobility, land-based and maritime transport infrastructure, urban planning and construction, resource conservation, risk prevention and coastal erosion, road and maritime safety, and the ability to integrate these different skills into developing territorial projects, whether at national, European and International levels.
Cerema is Part of Research & Innovation European Programs (H2020...) and is currently involved in 40 on-going EU financed projects, and actively participates in several European technology platforms (CCAM, ECTP, Waterborne, etc.).
Our experts are feeding European and International bodies on regulatory innovation technics and standardization.
Cerema operates in many countries and works closely with the French Ministry for Ecological and Inclusive Transition as well as with International Funding Agencies on their foreign aid projects, particularly in African countries.
