The purpose of this guide is to promote the use in roadengineering of local materials, which are not in general usefor various technical or historic reasons, in order to save somenatural resources and increase recycling to reduce final wasteflows.

In the current guide, it was decided to limit the approach to the most valorizing uses, i.e. capping and base layers.

Description

This guide is part of a series of documents prepared by the CFTR intended to promote the use of materials not currently in general use for various technical and historic reasons in road engineering.

The driving forces behind this approach are:

• the determination to save some natural resources;

• the promotion of the use of local materials;

• the increase in recycling, meeting the need to reduce final waste flows produced by our society.

This  guide  describes  a  general  study  method  for  these  materials  (these  studies  being  within  the  scope  of  local  initiatives).
